West Brom fans react as Sam Field scores on QPR debut v Brentford
West Brom have finally found a way to beat Brentford – send Sam Field and Charlie Austin on loan to QPR.
On Wednesday night, the Rs came from a goal behind to win 2-1 at Loftus Road with Field netting on his debut for the London club, before Austin grabbed the winner minutes later.
Field joined QPR on loan on deadline day with a view to the deal being made permanent at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old had struggled for game-time at The Hawthorns in the first half of the season, playing just three times – all as a substitute – in the Premier League for Slaven Bilic before injuries and a change of manager left him frozen out.
Field, a popular academy product at the Albion, has not wasted any time in showing West Brom that it might have been the wrong decision to get rid of him.
Within minutes of coming on for his debut against Brentford, he was on the scoresheet. Austin’s goal added further insult to injury but based on Austin’s displays at the Albion, there wasn’t as much shock at his goal as there was with Field’s.
