Nigel Pearson looks set for the manager’s job at Bristol City and some West Brom fans are disappointed by that.
In reaction to the news, many fans have suggested that the former Watford boss would have been a good replacement if Sam Allardyce was to leave.
Big Sam’s future is in doubt as West Brom face almost certain relegation, and he has not managed in the Championship in 20 years.
He does have a contract until 2022 but recently remained coy on his future, and refused to say whether he would be sticking around.
If the Albion hierarchy is sensible they will start preparing for life without him now.
Michael Appleton has been touted as a possible replacement and some supporters like that idea.
But others would back Pearson to lead us back out of the Championship if that is to be our fate.
He guided Leicester to the Premier League before keeping them up in his first season.
His most recent managerial stint was at Watford last season.
They looked doomed for relegation when he took over but he galvanised the squad, and even beat a brilliant Liverpool side 3-0.
He was sacked harshly with two games remaining, and in the end Watford missed out on survival by just a point.
Here is some of the reaction to the news that he will likely join Bristol City.
Great appointment. I want him when BFS gets sacked or walks out.

Would’ve took him at the Albion next season if we went down #wba https://t.co/WcpoIxUF6E

Cracking appointment potentially for Bristol City. I was hoping he was going to remain available for when we were on the hunt for a new head coach #wba https://t.co/9H6Nb1vKAQ

@MAPRoberts I’ll cross him off my list of contenders for WBA job then… https://t.co/A5Uz1IGpaZ

In other West Brom news, Joseph Masi shares update on West Brom-Diagne option to buy agreement.
I like Pearson. I met him and had a chat at an Albion reserve game when he was Robbo’s assistant.
Seems to be marmite with the players tho. So not sure.
Get rid of Dowling and get Slaven back.
I just don’t see him as a modern sort of manager when handling players – he’s too hard! I remember when he was assistant at the Albion and my mate used to joke that he looked like a Drill Sergeant for the Marines. And don’t forget the punch-up on the touchline. I second the recall of Slav!
Its a no from me too. Weird on interviews, bring back Slav.
