Allardyce and West Brom have no right to complain after branding PL ‘irresponsible’
Sam Allardyce is wrong to criticise the Premier League over the decision to move Everton v West Brom to a Thursday night.
Big Sam has lashed out at the league after the decision was made to move West Brom’s clash against Everton to a Thursday night.
This leaves just two days preparation for Sunday’s important clash against fellow strugglers Newcastle United.
Allardyce is quoted by Birmingham Live as branding the Premier League ‘irresponsible’ over the decision to move the Everton game to a Thursday.
While it would’ve been easier on us for the Premier League to put the game on the Wednesday, it really doesn’t make that much difference.
Allardyce should actually take confidence from this based on events that happened earlier in his Hawthorns tenure because this isn’t the first time this has happened.
There were no such complaints from Big Sam when there were only two days between our games against Wolves and West Ham.
In those games, we produced very good performances and should’ve avoided defeat at the London Stadium after winning at Molineux.
Newcastle are a much easier side to face than West Ham, so what’s the problem?
Yes, it’s less than ideal but every team in every league has to deal with fixture congestion with this season being especially bad in terms of scheduling.
According to Football writer @DistanceCovered on Twitter, Newcastle have been the worst side in the Premier League since Christmas and they will be without one of their only good players in Callum Wilson when they face us.
We should have enough to easily beat Newcastle and if Big Sam is worried about us losing players against Everton, just play a weaker side.
Everton are gunning for the top four and it is unlikely we will take anything off them anyway.
The solution is simple, save our best players for the game against Newcastle so we can pick up a much-needed win.
Every team has had to deal with bad scheduling this season, Allardyce shouldn’t carry on as though we’ve been treated any differently to anyone else.
