Hendrie can’t believe what he saw in West Brom v Brighton
Lee Hendrie has claimed he’s never witnessed the type of chaos that erupted midway through the first half of West Brom v Brighton.
Lewis Dunk scored a free-kick from just outside the box before Lee Mason said to the players that he couldn’t give the goal because he didn’t blow the whistle.
Mason then gave the goal after the Brighton players complained before speaking to VAR again and he ultimately ruled the goal out and allowed the free-kick to be taken.
Former Aston Villa man Hendrie was on commentary for Sky Sports as he claimed he had never seen scenes like it.
Hendrie said, “I’ve never seen anything like this in the history of football.
“This is unbelievable really isn’t it? Obviously, he’s blown the whistle again just before it’s gone in then he’s given the goal.
“We’re still in the dark about what’s actually happening. This is unbelievable, I have never seen anything like this in my whole time in football.”
VAR and bad refereeing decisions dominating a West Brom game? Shocking isn’t it?
This is one of the weirder VAR decisions we’ve seen his season and thankfully this one went our way.
How VAR decided to look and see if Mason blew his whistle is beyond us as the referee had already ruled out the goal.
If we are going to have replays to see when a ref blew his whistle then the game is gone.
Brighton tried a cheeky free-kick and it didn’t work so they should’ve accepted that and tried again.
We believe the correct decision was reached even though Premier League referees once again showed themselves to be useless.
