Michael Owen predicts West Brom clash v Everton
Michael Owen has backed Everton to beat West Brom in their upcoming Premier League clash on Thursday evening.
The pundit has predicted that the Baggies will lose 2-1 at The Hawthorns, despite their unbeaten run being stretched to three games.
Sam Allardyce brought home two draws against Manchester United and Burnley before battling to another victory against Brighton on Saturday.
Writing in his Bet Victor predictions column, Owen backed Dominic Calvert-Lewin to find the back of the net at The Hawthorns.
“Big Sam returns to Goodison Park after his West Brom side recorded only their second win of his tenure. Yes, decisions went their way, but a win is a win and can only be a good thing,” he said.
“They welcome an Everton side that no doubt will cause problems. They have been excellent under Carlo Ancelotti this season and arrive here undefeated in eight Premier League matches away from home.
“I think another away win could be on the cards, and if Dominic Calvert-Lewin can find his best form since returning from injury, I think he could be on the scoresheet.”
West Brom will be confident coming into this one.
In the reverse fixture, the Baggies were well-and-truly in the game and dominating periods before Kieran Gibbs was given his marching orders for a pointless clash with James Rodriguez.
Calvert-Lewin isn’t exactly in the best of form, either, so Owen’s prediction may be proved completely wrong in the end on Thursday.
The 23-year-old has scored twice in his past 11 games, and both of those were open goals, so if the Albion can keep him tied down, he could struggle.
Big Sam knows that his side need three points from every game possible if survival is possible, and it starts on Thursday.
