View: Proof leopards don’t change their spots – West Brom must avoid Saido Berahino at all costs
So much for a changed man – Saido Berahino has proven once again why West Brom should keep a wide berth and avoid re-signing him at all costs.
Berahino left the club under a cloud in 2017 when he moved to Stoke City and his career has continued its downward trajectory that began towards the latter stages of his Hawthorns stay.
The 27-year-old is contracted to Belgian outfit Zulte Waregem but is currently on loan at RSC Charleroi where he has linked up with Albion outcast Cedric Kipre.
Speaking on ‘Vibe with FIVE’ [10/03/21] via Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE Youtube channel, Berahino reiterated his dream of returning to the West Midlands and donning the Albion colours once more.
“I’d love to play back at West Brom. That would be my main target,” he said.
“I follow the club so deeply that, if I went back, I think I’d die playing for them, because that is where I fell in love with football in England.
“I’ve said it before. I’d love to come back to England. This holiday period for two seasons – it’s cleared my head now!
“I’m in a better place. I miss that morning feeling waking up knowing it’s game day. Over here, there’s a man and a dog watching us. Nobody talks about games here.”
Boring Berahino
This public show of desperation is not a new thing given his February interview with fourfourtwo magazine where he also made his plea..
The majority of Albion fans will have had the same answer then – forget it.
But maybe there were one or two romanticising about a love story of a former Baggie coming back to deal with unfinished business.
Surely even the biggest Berahino fans will give up this far-fetched dream after these latest comments.
For all his talk of a man who is reborn and ready to put his immaturity behind him he didn’t hesitate to stick the knife into his current side.
It’s a blatant disrespect of the club that are paying his wages and we don’t doubt he would do the same again if given the chance to resume his Albion career that looks to have the stop button firmly jammed in.
Even before assessing his horrendous goalscoring record over recent years, one that is not even worthy of considering in the Championship, his attitude clearly still stinks and he is not welcome back at West Brom any time soon.
He needs to give the dream up and stop subjecting us to his tiresome public displays of affection and yearning.
