Sam Allardyce labels Simon Hooper ‘simpleton’ after West Brom defeat v Palace

West Brom once again crashed to a disappointing defeat in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon against Crystal Palace.

Relegation to the Championship is starting to get closer under Sam Allardyce, who was left fuming at Selhurst Park after the 1-0 loss.

Luka Milivojevic was the difference between the two sides as he fired home a penalty after Darnell Furlong inexplicably handled the ball in his own area.

Allardyce rarely left his seated position at Selhurst Park but was animated after a couple of incidents in the second half of the defeat.

Journalist Ed Aarons shared an altercation between the Baggies boss and referee Simon Hooper on his personal Twitter account.

“Allardyce just called the referee Simon Hooper ‘a simpleton’ after he didn’t stop play for a head injury,” he wrote.

If there is one man you don’t want to anger, it is Big Sam.

Allardyce was accused of sitting back and letting things happen during live coverage on Sky Sports, but this proved his passion is still there as he fights for his squad.

The Baggies are slowly waving goodbye to the Premier League, but it isn’t without a fight, although that doesn’t mean much when you can’t pick up results.

Premier League officials have been yet again shocking this season, and stopping play for a head injury is one of the clearest rules in the book.

For Hooper and his team to miss that, it doesn’t surprise us, but they have to better, they were quick enough to check Furlong’s mistake, and this criticism is justified.
