Alan Shearer points to damning West Brom goalscoring record

Alan Shearer has shared a damning statistic after West Brom fell to another Premier League defeat after facing Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Eagles ran out 1-0 victors at Selhurst Park after scoring from the penalty spot, with Albion once again unable to get on the scoresheet.

The Baggies haven’t scored a goal in their last three games in the Premier League, losing to Crystal Palace and Everton and drawing to Manchester United.

Talking about West Brom with Gary Lineker and Jermaine Jenas on Match of the Day on Saturday, Shearer was dismissive about the club’s chances of survival.

In a single damning statement, Shearer said: “They haven’t scored in 15 Premier League games this season – you’re not going to survive.”

Brutal yet accurate

Shearer’s point hits straight to the bone, but we can’t deny that he’s dead on.

As simple as it may sound, you can’t win games unless you score goals, and we just don’t have the talent or the coaching ability to deliver those necessary goals on a regular basis.

Albion have undeniably improved since the winter transfer window, with winter recruits Okay Yokuslu, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Mbaye Diagne improving the way in which we operate.

Ultimately though it just doesn’t look like it’s going to be enough, not unless we see radical change over the next few weeks.

When the Premier League resumes after the upcoming international break we’ll face Chelsea, Southampton, Leicester and Aston Villa, so the fixtures aren’t going to get any easier as we go.

At this point we really need to pray for a miracle, but believe it or not stranger things have happened in football, so while there’s a chance we’ll remain hopeful.

In other West Brom news, Allardyce has admitted that he has a dilemma over Callum Robinson and Karlan Grant.
