Grosicki likely to have already played final West Brom match – report

Kamil Grosicki is likely to have played his final match for West Brom already, according to Meczyki journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk.

Grosicki, 32, hasn’t made a matchday squad for Sam Allardyce since starting in the 2-1 defeat to West Ham on January 19.

He was strongly liked with a return to Poland last month while Nottingham Forest were also reportedly in talks over a deal.

Despite his lack of game-time at The Hawthorns, Grosicki has been called up to the Poland squad by manager Paulo Sousa.

Włodarczyk reports that Grosicki has jetted out of the UK to Poland early and is using facilities of Zwar and Legia Warsaw to ensure he’s fit enough to feature for his national team, who play Hungary, Andora and England in World Cup 2022 qualifiers before the end of this month.

Surprise call-up given lack of game-time

Last month, Polish FA chief Zbigniew Boniek warned that players would only be called up to the Poland squad for the European Championships this summer if they are playing regularly for their clubs.

Grosicki has had anything but that this season at West Brom with the former Hull winger playing just five times in all competitions.

The 32-year-old was handed a start for the Under-23s this month when he played 90 minutes of a 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough’s Under-23s in Premier League 2, which was seemingly a goodwill gesture to help the attacker get up to speed ahead of duty with Poland.

We don’t expect to see Grosicki play in blue and white stripes again.

It was clear last summer that he was going to be moved on with him almost joining Nottingham Forest and in the winter, he was strongly linked with a move away again.

We’ve seen suggestions from some fans that the club has treated Grosicki badly – this cannot be further from the truth.

Grosicki wants out and West Brom want him gone too. It’s a completely mutual thing.

Unfortunately for Grosicki, he failed to agree a deal with anyone in January and February and that is down to him really.
