Carlton Palmer: West Brom must keep Sam Allardyce even after relegation

Carlton Palmer has urged West Brom to stick with Sam Allardyce even if they are relegated from the Premier League.

The Baggies are slowly heading towards the Championship after yet another defeat against Crystal Palace last weekend at Selhurst Park.

Allardyce has turned things around defensively since arriving, but the problem remains in the final third as the Baggies struggle to score.

Speaking to Football Fan Cast, Palmer believes that should Big Sam stick at The Hawthorns it won’t be a long stay in the Championship.

“I think it’ll be a win-win Allardyce staying because I can’t see Sam getting another job in the Premier League,” he said.

“Sam’s worked with those players, knows those players. He’s a very, very good manager. So I believe if they get relegated and keep Sam, they’ll come straight back up.”

This is a big claim to

make.

Big Sam isn’t known for the Championship, he is known for keeping teams from dropping into it, so it will be interesting to see if he wants that challenge.

Football Insider has reported that there is a clause that will see Allardyce quit should the Baggies be relegated from the Premier League.

That isn’t good news for Palmers’ prediction, and it looks as though there will be a new man in charge before the start of next season.

Time will tell whether or not this will affect the Baggies and their chances of getting back to the Premier League, who knows, we may survive after all – although those chances are very slim.
