New Allardyce quotes make a mockery of West Brom fans

Sam Allardyce sounds delusional in new quotes about the chances of West Brom avoiding relegation from the Premier League this season.

Albion are 10 points from safety with nine games to play and while we don’t expect Allardyce to admit defeat, he needs to be realistic.

Big Sam is quoted by Express and Star as sounding as if a great escape is still possible at this dire stage.

He said, “I think the morale here, considering the position we are in, has been very good, We need to stay buoyant, we need to stay active and we need to enjoy our training. We can’t feel sorry for ourselves.

“We need to keep the team spirit we have built and I think everyone can see we have been very, very, close to achieving more points. That gives us the confidence to carry on.

“We can’t have any slip-ups, we know that. So the pressure is mounting. Can we deal with that pressure to get the victories we need?”

Simple answer, no.

He’s been saying for weeks that we need to be on the right side of fine margins and we have so far failed to do that.

Time is up now.

We had to beat Newcastle and Crystal Palace to even keep our hopes alive and we picked up one point from those games and it was against a Newcastle side who are arguably worse than us.

A bit of realism would be nice at this stage.

We’ve given Allardyce everything he wants, new players and the freedom to do pretty much whatever he wants and he’s failed to keep us up.

We don’t know if he’s saying this because he’s refusing to accept that his relegation record is about to be lost but the least we deserve is a bit of honesty now.

We’ll be playing Championship football next year.

If we need to win six of our last nine games then we’re gone to even the most optimistic of Albion fans.

But at least we have good morale in the camp! At least Allardyce says we do.

We aren’t stupid Sam, we all know where our club is going.
