View: West Brom can wave goodbye to Cardiff talent Kieron Evans

West Brom have been strongly linked with a move for Cardiff City talent Kieron Evans in the summer as they start to plan for the future.

Wales Online journalist Glen Williams has reported that the Baggies have joined the likes of Newcastle in monitoring the highly-rated prospect.

With the Albion likely to be playing their football in the Championship next season, targeting these types of talents could be smart.

West Brom have been hit with a hammer blow.

Cardiff have confirmed this week that Evans has committed his future to the club, meaning that those pursuing him now stand no chance.

The promising 19-year-old has signed a two-year deal that will see him stay in the Welsh capital until at least 2023.

Mick McCarthy has arrived at the Bluebirds and has included him in the matchday squad on numerous occasions as they start to plan big for Evans’ future.

Evans is yet to make his first-team debut for the Bluebirds, but it appears as though that may not be far away under McCarthy this season.

The 19-year-old can play out wide or in attacking midfield, and thankfully, we aren’t short in that area coming through the academy.

Rico Richards has been tied down at The Hawthorns, and he is certainly going to be the one to claim this spot in the first-team set up in years to come.

It was either going to be signing a new deal with Cardiff for Evans, or securing a move to the likes of the Albion, although that ship appears to have sailed already and we can wave goodbye.
