View: Callum Robinson must use international chance to earn West Brom spot back

West Brom forward Callum Robinson has been overlooked in the Premier League since the arrival of Sam Allardyce.

Slaven Bilic managed to turn the forwards’ loan move into a permanent switch in the summer with Oliver Burke going the other way to Sheffield United.

At the time, it felt like an excellent move but that has failed to benefit either side with both struggling to find any sort of form in the Premier League.

Despite his lack of action under Big Sam, Robinson has still been called into the latest Republic of Ireland squad for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers.

Allardyce has preferred new signing Mbaye Diagne since January and has even called upon Hal Robson-Kanu more when making substitutions.

That makes little-to-no sense with the Welshman’s current deal at The Hawthorns expiring at the end of this season, with little hope of that being expired.

Other options such as Karlan Grant have also struggled to prove their worth after big-money moves, but he won’t get a chance over this break outside of regular training.

All eyes on Robbo.

Big Sam has to watch closely over this break, with most countries having three big games to kickstart their qualifiers for the biggest tournament in world football.

Robinson is yet to feature since the 2-1 defeat against Sheffield United at the start of February, and something must have happened for that.

It hasn’t gone under-the-radar either, as the 26-year-old can’t even get off the bench.

Big Sam has options too, Robinson can play out wide but the likes of Matt Phillips have been preferred despite little reward from that decision.

Robinson has to do something special in this two-week break, and if not, he could find himself stuck on the bench until the end of the season.
