Paul Robinson makes passionate plea to West Brom board for next manager
Ex-West Brom left-back Paul Robinson has been left dismayed by the failings of the club and he has criticised the appointment of Sam Allardyce.
Albion have lurched from one disaster to the next after gaining promotion from the Championship and they are hurtling towards the Premier League trapdoor under Allardyce after a run of just one win in 11 games.
Speaking on The Liquidator Podcast [22/03/21] Robinson hit out at the decisions being made behind-the-scenes during a tumultuous season for the club.
“They should’ve got a younger manager, a manager that understands the football club,” he said.
“The club has got to make the right decision now and let it be a younger manager and let the club have a plan, the club needs to plan to move forward to get the club back then to the Premier League if they don’t survive this year.
“They’ve got to find that stability and stay in there like they did when they stayed in for six, seven years in the Premier League.
“That’s what they need now, they need that stability and not the chopping and changing now because it’s not healthy, it’s not a healthy environment when you’re constantly changing all the time.”
Robbo’s right…sort of
There can be no defending the disastrous season we have endured which has been underpinned by decisions taken at the top of the club.
From a shocker in the transfer market to a strange and sudden swap of Slaven Bilic for Sam Allardyce in December, we have sunk to new levels under this board.
Without fans in stadiums fostering a connection through our performances on the pitch and comments away from it have been crucial but both departments have failed big time.
Bilic can take some blame but Big Sam must take a large portion too as he has not done what it says on the tin and inspired us to safety.
Robbo wants a younger manager and while we see the logic we do not think we have to limit ourselves to a certain age.
Younger is not the key word – it is ‘hungrier’.
Someone that has the fire in their belly to turn our club around and breathe new life into us is what is required.
Chris Wilder anyone?
