Krovinovic & Pereira send messages to Gibbs as he announces West Brom exit

Kieran Gibbs has agreed to join Inter Miami in the summer and has been congratulated for his deal by West Brom players of the present and past.

On Tuesday, Albion confirmed via their official Twitter account that Gibbs, 31, will leave The Hawthorns at the end of the season when his contract with the Premier League club expires.

Gibbs then took to his Instagram account to say he’s “extremely excited” to be joining David Beckham’s MLS franchise and added he “will continue to give 100 per cent” to West Brom for the remainder of his spell in the Black Country.

Plenty of familiar faces replied to Gibbs’ post. Pereira said “congrats” to the left-back while ex-Albion loanee Krovonovic also responded.

He said: “Top player, congrats.”

Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mesut Ozil, Ben Chilwell, Hal Robson-Kanu, Allan Nyom and Romeo Beckham also replied to Gibbs’ post.

Welcome news

Gibbs has had some rough treatment from sections of the West Brom support in the last couple of seasons due to his injury issues.

The ex-Arsenal left-back made just 14 Championship appearances last season due to separate spells on the sidelines while he’s played just 10 times in the Premier League this term.

Is it Gibbs’ fault that he’s been injury-prone in the last two seasons? It would be extremely harsh to suggest it is as injuries happen to absolutely everyone.

West Brom

Is it his fault he’s West Brom’s top earner on a wage of £70,000-a-week [ESPN]? Is it his fault Conor Townsend has emerged and done a very impressive job at left-back in his place?

Absolutely not. But if you go through social media and read what some fans have said about Gibbs then you would come to the conclusion he’s the worst and most disrespectful player the club has ever had.

Gibbs was good in his first two seasons at The Hawthorns but unfortunately, he’s reached a stage of his career where his body isn’t enabling him to play as well or as regularly.

We wish him all the best in Miami, where hopefully the warmer conditions and perceived easier matches will help keep him fit.
