Kamil Grosicki wants ‘high-level’ move in the summer after West Brom exit – agent

Forgotten figure Kamil Grosicki looked destined for a West Brom exit in February but his agent has appeared to outline why a move back to Poland failed to materialise.

Grosicki, 32, has only featured five times for Albion this season and has not played club football since January 29.

The £35,000-a-week ace [Express & Star] is out of contract at the end of this season [Transfemarkt] and is certain to depart The Hawthorns.

Polsat Sport reported last month that he was close to an agreement with Legia Warsaw but a move failed to transpire and comments by his agent Daniel Kaniewski in a video on WP Sportowe Fakty seem to outline just why Grosicki did not return to his homeland.

In quotes relayed by Polish outlet Meczyki Kaniewski said: “It is too early for Kamil to return to Poland. He is a player who plays at a high level and the Polish league is not in his head yet. Kamil will play abroad and thinks about further development.”

He added: “In my opinion, Kamil will definitely not come back to Poland.”

Taking his talents elsewhere

Grosicki obviously rates himself above the level of the Ekstraklasa, Poland’s premier division, and is eyeing another lucrative move elsewhere on the continent.

Kaniewski said his client belongs at a high level and with 17 international goals for Poland it is hard to argue against that sentiment.

He was a regular source of goals in the Championship for previous club Hully City and a mid-season move to the West Midlands in 2020 looked ideal to help boost the Baggies in the hunt for automatic promotion.

We limped over the line in the end and while Grosicki made 14 appearances, he scored just once and failed to assert himself in the starting XI.

Events have got worse for him this season and he was exiled from the Premier League squad until a brief appearance in Slaven Bilic’s penultimate game in charge versus Newcastle United on December 12.

Sam Allardyce replaced Bilic and didn’t appear to fancy him either but he made three successive starts in January and particularly impressed in the Black Country Derby victory over Wolves.

But he only made one more appearance and has not been seen in a squad since.

We think he’s been harshly treated and we don’t blame him for eyeing a high-level move. Perhaps he will prove a few wrong and earn himself a Premier League reprieve elsewhere.
