Mason Mount a doubt for West Brom clash, he’s absent from England training
Mason Mount was absent from England training on Tuesday and so he could miss out when West Brom visit Chelsea on Saturday, via Sky Sports.
The 22-year-old was in fine form for England on Sunday and got on the scoresheet.
The £88,000 a week star [Spotrac] has also featured in all but one Premier League game this term so will be sorely missed if he is absent at the weekend.
West Brom have already been boosted by the news of injuries to Jorginho [Italy Twitter] and N’Golo Kante [Chelsea official site], who join Tammy Abraham and Thiago Silva on the treatment table.
Massive boost
West Brom travel to Stamford Bridge as huge underdogs but Chelsea will be without key first-team midfielders.
That could prove decisive, and if Okay Yokuslu is on top form we have a chance of controlling the middle of the park.
Conor Gallagher will of course be absent as he is not allowed to play against his parent club, which is a blow, but if Mount is unavailable Chelsea will lack a little creativity.
They still have the forward players to hurt us, no doubt, but they could struggle without the link between midfield and attack.
Sam Allardyce must exploit that weakness by packing the midfield.
Allowing Matheus Pereira to cut in from the right flank is the best method to do that.
His presence should reduce space and frustrate our opponents and then it may only take one goal to nick a valuable win.
That is easier said than done given Chelsea have conceded only two goals in their last 14 games, but we are surely due a bit of luck.
In other West Brom news, Albion must move quickly to grab Ivan Toney-esque striker as rivals circle.
