Garth Crooks has selected West Brom duo Matheus Pereira and Callum Robinson in his Premier League Team of the Week against Chelsea.
The Baggies pair both scored twice at Stamford Bridge, as Sam Allardyce handed Thomas Tuchel his first defeat since moving to London.
Robinson has only scored five Premier League goals in his career, and all of those have come against the Blues in a stunning statistic.
Writing in his BBC column, Crooks claimed that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t have scored better goals than the Irishman.
“The game really turned in West Brom’s favour the moment substitute Callum Robinson came on to the pitch,” he said.
“Which really begs the question why the player had been dropped in the first place? Robinson buzzed around Stamford Bridge wreaking havoc. Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t have scored two better goals.
As for Pereira, Crooks was equally impressed and believed that he could have scored his first hat-trick in the Premier League.
“Man of the Match was undoubtedly Matheus Pereira, who scored two outstanding goals and would have completed his performance with a deserved hat-trick had it not been for the feet of Edouard Mendy.”
Who would have predicted this?
Not the 5-2 victory against Chelsea, but Robinson being not only compared to Messi and Ronaldo but actually being placed in a better bracket.
The Irish international was irresistible at Stamford Bridge, and his goals highlighted every aspect of his game that we have been missing recently.
His first goal was great power and control to steer the perfect volley into the roof of the net, and then his second was a deft chip to seal the three points.
Allardyce was delighted with his side, but there has to be special praise set aside for Robinson and Pereira who were efficient as ever.
