Sky Sports pundit Lewis Jones predicts West Brom clash v Southampton
Sky Sports pundit Lewis Jones has predicted that West Brom and Southampton will share the spoils when they face each other on Monday evening.
West Bromwich Albion enjoyed their biggest win of the season last weekend when they beat Chelsea 5-2 at Stamford Bridge.
It was an unexpected three points for Sam Allardyce’s men, but a lot of work is left to be done if the Baggies are to stay up this season.
Every game is now almost a cup final now, and the game against Southampton is a chance for Big Sam’s side to close the gap between themselves and 17th-placed Newcastle United.
However, Sky Sports’ Jones does not believe they can win, predicting a 1-1 result.
In his column, the pundit wrote, “Sam Allardyce’s men should be bouncing for this fixture – one that the manager will have a big circle around in his calendar.
“This is a winnable one. But, I can’t quite trust the Baggies just yet, especially against such a tactically astute attacking team like Southampton.”
Draw not good enough
Eight points separate us from Newcastle United in 17th and drawing this game is not going to be enough, given our fixtures ahead.
After hosting Southampton, we face Leicester, Aston Villa, Arsenal and Liverpool in four of our next five games.
Both Leicester and Liverpool are aiming to finish in the top four while Arsenal and Aston Villa will be fighting to qualify for next year’s Europa League.
Big Sam arrived at The Hawthorns with the reputation of being a manager to have never been relegated.
Unfortunately for us, that statement is unlikely to hold for too long as we’re facing seemingly insurmountable odds.
Defensively we have looked resolute over the last few games, but our main issues have come at the other end of the pitch.
We must start this game the same way we did against Chelsea and play like we have nothing to lose – putting everything on the line.
