Gary Lineker jokes about Big Sam attacking style after West Brom 3 Southampton 0
West Brom blew Southampton away on Monday in a 3-0 win that caught Gary Lineker’s attention, who joked about Sam Allardyce after the match.
Albion backed up the superb 5-2 victory at Chelsea in the best way possible, and the win was never in doubt.
Big Sam has got the players performing at their best and even scoring goals for fun, something that is quite rare for his teams, as Lineker points out.
He tweeted, “Eight goals in two games for West Brom. Is Big Sam having a mid-life crisis?”
Transformation
It has been quite a transformation for West Brom but there is a sense that these performances have been coming for some time.
Allardyce certainly thinks so, and after Monday’s victory he said his side have put in several quality performances that have only gone unnoticed because they did not end in wins.
As quoted by the BBC, Big Sam said, “It is one of many top quality performances over the past eight or 10 games but we haven’t received the credit because we didn’t win.
“We have missed out on many points due to our poor finishing.”
The results against Chelsea and Southampton perhaps should not surprise Lineker then.
Big Sam is beginning to raise a few eyebrows and prove that people were wrong to write him off.
It took a while for him to get us playing like this but the turn around since Slaven Bilic left has been quite remarkable.
Unfortunately, it seems to have happened too late this season but Allardyce is making a great case to be manager beyond the summer, if he wants the job.
