Adrian Goldberg thrilled by West Brom playmaker Matheus Pereira
Adrian Goldberg has been thrilled by the recent performances of West Brom star Matheus Pereira in the Premier League.
The Brazilian fired home the opener from the penalty spot in the heavy 3-0 victory against Southampton on Monday evening.
Goldberg compared Pereira to the legendary Tony Brown, as he fired home his penalty straight down the middle with ease past Fraser Forster.
Speaking on the Liquidator Podcast, Goldberg admitted that he thought Pereira deserved the Man of the Match award over Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
“We had to take full advantage in that first half,” he said.
“Thankfully, the breakthrough came when Pereira was pulled over by Forster and stuck a great penalty down the middle; Bomber Brown style.
“Pereira is bouncing now.”
Legendary?
Pereira will be remembered for many things during his spell at The Hawthorns, but he is still some way off that sort of status.
The Brazilian has been linked with his exit at the end of this season, with relegation to the Championship set to end his stint in the midlands.
Should the Baggies pull off the miraculous escape during this campaign, much of it would be down to the success of Pereira, and he would earn that legendary status if he was to do that.
Pereira scored twice at Chelsea, and backed that up with his goal against the Saints; next up? He needs to do it at Leicester next week.
Confidence will be sky high, and hopefully, that is flowing through more players than just Pereira in the Baggies camp.
