Allardyce sent West Brom player home for late arrival at match last month
Sam Allardyce sent a West Brom player home after he arrived 20 minutes late to a friendly match against Aston Villa last month, according to John Percy.
The Telegraph journalist claims that days after he was appointed in charge of the Baggies in December, Big Sam told the players that anyone “dropping their standards would be punished”.
He talked the talk back then and walked the walk last month when an unnamed player was “told to leave and drive home on his own” after he turned up late to a friendly meeting with Villa at their Bodymoor Heath training ground.
Who was it?
That’s going to be the question that West Brom fans want to know the answer to now but unfortunately, we’ll probably never know.
Albion’s match against Villa last month was about as ‘behind-closed-doors’ as it gets with it extremely difficult to find out information about the game.
Aston Villa’s only official story about the game is that Wesley Moraes came back from injury to play 45 minutes of the match at their training ground.
There’ll no doubt be speculation but the big thing about this story is that Big Sam is a man of his word and if you cross him, you’ll face the consequences.
It’s one of the reasons why form has started to improve lately and faint hopes of survival have glimmered through cracks in what has been a dull, dark and long Premier League season.
Allardyce has shown that he should be in charge of West Brom next season whatever division they are playing in.
In other West Brom news, Kevin Phillips claims this player’s value is rising by £1million each time he plays.
