Tim Spiers: Wolves succeeding in operation to get West Brom relegated

Athletic journalist Tim Spiers has managed to divert attention to West Brom despite his beloved Wolves being absolutely humiliated by Burnley on Sunday afternoon.

Ex-Baggies striker Chris Wood hit a first-half hat-trick for the Clarets at Molineux as Sean Dyche’s men won 4-0 and eased their relegation concerns.

Although Albion fans were pleased to see a former player put Wolves to the sword, it has made achieving safety all the more difficult for Sam Allardyce and his squad.

West Brom

Ahead of West Brom playing Aston Villa later on Sunday, Allardyce’s side sits 10 points shy of safety while Burnley are all but safe courtesy of winning at Molineux.

Ex-Express & Star reporter Spiers took a swipe at West Brom’s faltering survival bid during his team’s defeat.

“It may *look* like Wolves are messing this up but Operation Send the Albion Down is going to plan,” said Spiers on his personal Twitter account.

We’re down, we know

It’s no secret that we’re going down.

Even a 5-2 win away at Chelsea and the 3-0 hammering of Southampton that followed didn’t change the view of many West Brom supporters.

From the very beginning of the season, we knew it would be difficult to stay up and our fears have been all but confirmed.

It’s just a matter of time before we join Sheffield United in dropping back into the Championship, but at least going down a division will have a couple of plus points in the fact that there won’t be any VAR.

As for Wolves, they’ve had one really rough season in the Premier League. It’s genuinely surprising that they’ve managed to get 41 points at this stage because they haven’t done well at all.

After playing Villa on Sunday, West Brom will welcome Wolves to The Hawthorns for what could be the final Black Country derby for a while.

We humiliated them at Molineux earlier this season with our worst-ever Premier League squad.

Let’s do it once more before we bow out.
