West Brom playmaker Matheus Pereira has stepped up massively in recent months in the Premier League.
The Brazilian star hit his ninth goal of the season in the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa, and his five assists have taken him to an impressive 14 involvements.
With the Baggies heading towards the Championship once again, the Athletic have reported serious interest in his services, including Villa themselves.
Leeds ace Raphinha has been one of the standout South Americans in the Premier League since arriving, and he has been closely watching the Baggies playmaker.
Writing on Pereira’s latest Instagram post on his personal account, the winger has been thrilled by his former teammate at Sporting Lisbon.
“No one for this man,” he said.
Pereira has proved that he is levels above most in this Baggies squad, and it is a shame that others haven’t raised their own games.
The Brazilian has been heavily criticised at times this season, but these last few weeks have proved that he is one of the only ones to respond to that.
If other members of this squad had done the same, we may not have been in this much trouble with only one month left to go and relegation inevitable.
Raphinha arrived at Leeds for under £20million and a similar price as Karlan Grant, and although that is in instalments to Huddersfield, it highlights how much we have failed with this transfer policy.
Pereira is likely to be in the Premier League next season, and it isn’t looking like it is going to be at The Hawthorns.
