Ex-Celtic midfielder Beram Kayal would be interested in West Brom move
Former Celtic and Brighton midfielder Beram Kayal has confirmed he would be interested in a move to West Brom.
On Tuesday, Albion loanee Conor Gallagher took to Instagram to say he was “gutted” about the failure to beat Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday.
Kayal played alongside Gallagher on loan at Charlton in the first half of last season and the defensive midfielder replied to the Chelsea player’s post with clapping emojis.
The 46-time Israel international was then asked by a West Brom fan whether he would ever move to The Hawthorns.
Kayal replied: “On my way.”
We need midfielders…
Let’s face it, we’re as good as relegated now so West Brom need to start thinking about building a squad that’s capable of winning promotion from the Championship.
Loanees like Gallagher, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Okay Yokuslu are unlikely to stay with them all having Premier League aspirations so who does that leave us with in the middle of the park?
Jake Livermore, Romaine Sawyers and Rekeem Harper when his loan spell ends at Birmingham.
Livermore had good spells in the Championship last season, as did Sawyers. But both of them ended the promotion-winning season awfully and both have been spectacularly bad in the Premier League.
We need massive upgrades in the middle of the pitch in the summer and Kayal, despite being 32, wouldn’t be someone we’d turn our noses up at for a short-term addition to add some quality and defensive steel.
Kayal is a defensive midfielder who won promotion with Brighton in 2016/17 while he’s also won four Scottish Premiership titles with Celtic.
He has a lot of experience of winning things and although he’s back in Israel playing for Bnei Sakhnin right now, he’s someone who could sit in front of our defence next season or at the very least add some depth.
