Michael Owen predicts West Brom to lose 1-0 in the Black Country derby against bitter rivals Wolves on Monday evening.
Albion enjoyed their first win under Sam Allardyce in the reverse fixture at Molineux in January when a pair of Matheus Pereira penalties sandwiched a Semi Ajayi goal to record a 3-2 victory.
But writing in his regular BetVictor column, ex-England striker Owen believes Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will get their revenge at The Hawthorns.
“West Brom have been resurgent in recent weeks and if it wasn’t for such a sloppy start when Sam Allardyce came in, we could be talking about them staying up,” he said.
“Wolves’ campaign is slowly petering out. There hasn’t been a whole lot to shout about at Molineux this season, however, they have shown that they are more than capable of beating teams in and around them.
“I’m not expecting a classic here, but I do feel the away side will have just enough to take the points.”
Owen’s prediction flies in the face of recent form with our knack of racking up the goals and Wolves’ dismal defensive record.
We’ve scored ten in our last four games, including five at Chelsea at the beginning of April.
Wolves, meanwhile, shipped four at home to Burnley last weekend with three of them coming in the first half to ex-Baggie Chris Wood.
They also conceded three goals to West Ham last month with their usually solid defence deserting them this season.
That was evident in our last encounter as Callum Robinson ran them ragged to win two penalties that Pereira converted.
Ajayi and Kyle Bartley also caused problems aerially and both will be looking to do the same again with the Dingles looking particularly suspect from set pieces.
In other West Brom news, Albion want 6ft2in striker who can ‘run like the wind’, scored six in his last six.
