Derek Ferguson tips West Brom to appoint Derek McIness
Derek Ferguson has tipped West Brom to appoint Derek McInnes once their relegation to the Championship is confirmed.
Sam Allardyce looks destined for his first relegation from the Premier League, with a 10-point gap to catch with only four games remaining.
McInnes is currently out of work, although it is uncertain whether or not Big Sam will leave his post at The Hawthorns after this season concludes.
Speaking on the Open Goal YouTube channel, Ferguson claimed that the former Aberdeen manager could have a big point to prove.
“You look at West Brom,” he said.
“He played at West Brom, I think he’s well thought of down there. Big Sam was brought in to get them out of trouble, they’re going to go into the Championship.
“I think Derek McInnes, what a good fit that would be. McInnes is top drawer, I think he would like to go down there, he has a point to prove.”
Movement.
There is still no clarity on what is going to happen at the end of this season.
Relegation is all-but-confirmed after recent results, but the future of many figures are far from being confirmed at The Hawthorns.
Big Sam has claimed he is happy to stay next season, but that is depending on the budget he is given by the board to bounce back at the first time of asking.
West Brom News were recently told that McInnes is on the shortlist of names to replace Allardyce if needed, with a shortlist being drafted.
With four games remaining, we will be given clarity soon.
