Millwall terminate Kenneth Zohore loan, send him back to West Brom

Millwall have terminated Kenneth Zohore’s loan spell early and have sent the striker back to West Brom, according to South London Press journalist Richard Cawley.

Zohore, 27, joined Millwall on loan in October initially until January before the deal was extended until the end of the season.

However, the Dane has made just 17 Championship appearances for the Lions and scored only two goals in an injury-ridden spell at The Den.

Cawley reports on the London News Online website that “Millwall have opted to end” Zohore’s loan deal prematurely with the Baggies loanee “set to play no part in the Championship finale at Coventry” on Saturday.

Zohore has been in Millwall’s last three matchday squads in the Championship but was an unused substitute for the 4-1 win over Bristol City last time out.

No luck at The Den for Big Ken

It seems as though West Brom are going to be lumbered with Zohore next season when they return to the Championship unless a deal is struck to sell him on in the summer transfer window.

However, after just five Championship goals since joining the Baggies for £8million (yes, £8million) from Cardiff in 2019, it seems unlikely that the Black Country club will get anywhere near what they paid for him.

It’s all going to be about cutting losses with Zohore, who still has two years left on his contract at The Hawthorns.

Luke Dowling could send the striker out on loan again but if he’s struggled with injuries and failed to make an impact at a side like Millwall, it’s doubtful there’ll be many takes in the Championship.

It wouldn’t be a shock to see Zohore move abroad if that’s the case.

He has played in Denmark, Italy and Sweden in the past so that could be something to keep an eye out for in the coming months.

We really can’t be having him around the squad next season wasting wages.

In other West Brom news, next month could be huge for Guochuan Lai’s ownership of the Baggies.
