Robert Snodgrass undergoes surgery, will miss rest of West Brom season
West Brom midfielder Robert Snodgrass will miss the rest of the current Premier League season at The Hawthorns.
The January signing from West Ham has been suffering with a back problem in the past month, and Sam Allardyce relayed a huge update on Friday.
Snodgrass has completed surgery on his back injury this week, and won’t feature until next season for the Baggies.
Allardyce confirmed the update in his press conference this afternoon, and it was relayed by journalist Joseph Masi on his personal Twitter account.
“A downbeat Sam Allardyce has just held his pre-Arsenal press conf,” he wrote.
“You can tell Albion’s impending relegation has affected him. He also confirmed Robert Snodgrass will miss the remaining four games of the season after undergoing back surgery.”
Inevitable.
We haven’t seen Snodgrass for months now, and it was looking more likely that he would be missing long-term on that basis.
Now that he has finally undergone surgery, he can look forward to next season and potentially spearheading our push for promotion again with relegation likely.
Snodgrass has shined in the Championship in recent seasons for the likes of Aston Villa, and we are hoping for the same impact at the Hawthorns.
The 33-year-old has only started six games with a further two substitute appearances under Allardyce, and this has certainly been his worst signing since arriving.
We are hoping for a huge change next season, although it is disappointing he couldn’t make an impact after joining from West Ham.
