Preparations revealed as West Brom fans ready return to The Hawthorns
West Brom are set to welcome fans back to the Hawthorns for the first time since last season when they face West Ham on Wednesday.
The Baggies have unfortunately already sealed their fate as one of the three Premier League clubs unable to stave off relegation, however a selection of supporters will get the chance to experience top-flight football in person before the season ends.
West Ham are still mathematically in with a chance of qualifying for the Champions League this season, making their game against West Brom a crucial one for David Moyes’ men.
Despite Albion having already confirmed their relegation, supporters will be eagerly anticipating Wednesday’s game, having been kept from in-person football for so long.
Journalist Joe Chapman has now shared an image on Twitter from outside the East Stand of The Hawthorns, showing preparations are being made to welcome fans back home on Wednesday.
Can’t wait
Even though we won’t get to witness much Premier League football before we find ourselves back in the Championship, it’s extremely exciting to see that a return to the Hawthorns is edging ever closer.
Unlike Liverpool, Everton, Southampton and Brighton, who briefly saw their fans return to their respective stadiums over the winter period, Albion fans have been made to wait and wait patiently for a chance to return to the ground.
Now that we’re finally allowed to do that, and with Albion’s fate having already been confirmed, it essentially means that fans can go and enjoy a day out.
In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter what happens when West Brom face West Ham, just as long as the fans are there to witness it. The pressure is off, and because of that we can all enjoy our return.
Hopefully we’ll see Albion bounce back fairly soon, and with the right preparation put into place there is so reason why we couldn’t expect that to be the case.
