West Brom want to sign Taiwo Awoniyi after work permit granted – report

West Brom want to sign Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi ahead of next season, according to Goal.

The Nigerian attacker has finally been handed his UK work permit to play in England after failing on numerous occasions in the past.

The online outlet have reported that the Baggies are interested alongside Fulham and Stoke, who will all play in the Championship next season.

Despite arriving at Anfield six years ago, the 23-year-old has spent numerous spells away from the club out on loan in Germany.

With a permit granted, it appears as though a move away from Merseyside is likely again, and this time it could be permanent.

Awoniyi would cost up to £8million, although German trio Stuttgart, Wolfsburg and Union Berlin have also registered their interest.

Replacements.

Given the £8million price tag, it appears as though a permanent move is out of the question for the Baggies.

A big loan switch is definitely on the table, but if any of these rivals can pay the money, it could be our chances out of the window at the same time.

Hal Robson-Kanu is likely to leave once his contract has expired, and Charlie Austin could be the first out of the exit door as early as next week.

That leaves Karlan Grant and Callum Robinson as our striking options, and given the fact we need wingers too, Awoniyi coming in would help massively.

The chance to fire us back to the Premier League instantly could be too good to turn down, and Awoniyi will certainly want to prove himself in England, time to make our move.
