West Brom trio message Tyler Roberts after big Leeds win v Southampton
West Brom and Leeds United have had contrasting returns to the Premier League this season, to say the least.
Our relegation has been confirmed for two weeks nearly, and our old Championship rivals secured a top-half finish last night, not that we’re jealous.
One similarity we do have though, is Tyler Roberts, with the Baggies academy product shining at Elland Road as we watch on.
The Welshman scored his first Premier League goal in their 2-0 victory over Southampton on Tuesday evening, and it was one very small win for our academy set up.
Posting on his personal Instagram account after the game, Roberts attracted many of his old Albion teammates, who were clearly delighted.
Kyle Edwards, Rekeem Harper and Rayhaan Tulloch all delivered messages to the 22-year-old, celebrating his success on the big stage.
Regrets.
It is hard to watch an academy graduate shining in the Premier League, especially after our clear struggles in the final third this season.
Matheus Periera has been alone for the majority of the season, and yet someone we let leave for only £3million has been coming up with the goods elsewhere.
Having watched the likes of Hal Robson-Kanu, Charlie Austin and Kamil Grosicki in recent years, it is hard to grasp what our transfer policy is at the moment.
Keeping your young talent should be one of the biggest priorities, but this is just another example of where the board have failed us as fans at The Hawthorns.
Roberts may have been drastically improved by Marcelo Bielsa, but it proves that it was always in him to succeed, what a massive shame it isn’t with us.
