Don Goodman slams West Brom loanee Alex Palmer for Lincoln v Blackpool
West Brom loanee Alex Palmer was at Wembley on Sunday as Lincoln took on Blackpool in the League One play-off final.
The young keeper was aiming for back-to-back promotions, and it was a fiery encounter in the capital as the action was non-stop.
Palmer didn’t cover himself in glory when Kenny Dougall smashed home the equaliser from distance, as it seemed to go through the stopper.
Speaking during live commentary of the clash on Sky Sports, Goodman wasn’t impressed with the Baggies loanee at Wembley.
“Palmer is really sloppy on that left-hand side and can’t quite get down to it,” he said.
It wasn’t the best piece of work we have seen from the young stopper, who appeared to instantly blame the defence ahead of him.
Shocker.
Sam Johnstone was battered from left, right and centre throughout the Premier League season, but it won’t be like that in the Championship.
Palmer will likely be fighting David Button for the number one shirt next season, and given the fact he has consistently succeeded over the past two years could give him the upperhand.
It will all depend on our new manager.
Should it be someone like Chris Wilder, Palmer will have a great chance, the former Sheffield United man has trusted young stoppers such as Dean Henderson and Arron Ramsdale.
Goodman wasn’t impressed, and we have to say that our new potential manager may not have been either on Sunday afternoon.
