West Brom could appoint David Wagner by tomorrow
West Brom could appoint David Wagner as their new manager by tomorrow (Thursday), according to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett.
Writing on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night, Dorsett reported that Albion are on the verge of offering Wagner, 49, the manager’s job at The Hawthorns.
It is understood Chris Wilder was the top choice for the Baggies before Guochuan Lai opted to pull the plug on a deal for the ex-Sheffield United boss.

He could be confirmed within the next 48 hours.
Former #sufc manager Chris Wilder was top of Albion’s wanted list, until the club’s Chinese owners decided not to pursue him for the role.

What a mess
West Brom would have gone through all that effort of talking to Wilder, possibly drawing up contract plans and transfer plans with him, only for Lai to say it’s not happening.
Wilder is the stand-out candidate, there’s no way anyone can argue with that thanks to his promotion-record and exciting brand of football.
Wagner isn’t as appealing but at least he’s won promotion once in the past when he took Huddersfield to the Premier League via a penalty shootout in the Championship play-off final.
He just isn’t an inspiring choice of manager.
We hope that Wagner can prove us and a lot of other supporters wrong but he just does not feel as though he’s the right pick when the obvious choice was there to be had.
Lai’s decision to shove his nose in right now is a joke.
The Chinese businessman has done next to nothing for this club during his time as owner and now he feels as though he’s in a place to say who shouldn’t be the next manager.
Yes, it’s his club. But it’s pretty obvious that he has not got a clue about football.
In other West Brom news, a move to Albion on loan has been mooted for this Aston Villa player.
