West Brom Super Fans want club to sell Romaine Sawyers after Valerien Ismael appointment

West Brom fans have been urging Valerien Ismael to sell Romaine Sawyers after the Frenchman was appointed as Albion manager on Thursday.

Ismael joined the West Midlands side from Barnsley as the long-awaited successor to Sam Allardyce, and he will only have a few days to prepare before pre-season training begins on Monday [28/06/21].

He is sure to be active in the transfer market, with Albion losing a host of key players after their relegation to the Championships, with loan quartet Okay Yokuslu, Conor Gallagher, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Mbaye Diagne all departed from The Hawthorns.

One player who could benefit from the exits of Yokuslu, Gallagher and Maitland-Niles is Sawyers, the Albion-academy product who was marginalised at the end of last season as the loan trio made their presence felt in the middle of midfield.

After Ismael arrived as Albion’s new manager, we asked our panel of Super Fans whether Sawyers should be sold this summer.

Here’s what they had to say…

Overwhelming

There was very little in the way of support for the Birmingham-born 29-year-old, who appears to have become a subject of derision among supporters after a series of lethargic performances at The Hawthorns.

Many onlookers have deemed Sawyers to be lazy and ineffectual in the middle of midfield, and that carelessness lost him his place under Big Sam last season as he failed to feature after a 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on February 7.

With Ismael famed for his high-intensity football, it appears Sawyers could become surplus to requirements unless the new West Brom boss can rejuvenate the ailing midfielder.

In other West Brom news, Albion are leading the chase to sign this English captain with 15 goal contributions last season.
