Valerien Ismael to work with James Morrison at West Brom
West Brom manager Valerien Ismael Ismael wants to add at least two more coaches and James Morrison to his staff, according to Joseph Masi.
The Express and Star journalist wrote on the newspaper’s website that the Frenchman is currently assembling his backroom staff, and he wants the Albion legend as part of it.
Morrison’s future at the Hawthorns was unclear following the departure of Sam Allardyce, but it appears the former midfielder will continue being a first-team coach under Ismael.
Brilliant move
The new West Brom boss needs someone who knows about the club at his beck and call, and retaining Morrison makes a lot of sense.
After 12 seasons as a loyal servant, the ex-Baggies star hung up his boots in October 2019 and was immediately appointed as a coach in the academy.
Morrison was promoted to the first-team in December 2020 to work alongside Big Sam, and we need him around for the tough task ahead.
The 35-year-old knows all about promotion and relegation, and he is no doubt a smart choice for the job.
Pre-season preparations begin on Thursday, and Ismael wants to get his players in top physical condition ahead of the campaign.
His high pressing style requires a lot of fitness, and we cannot wait to see how the players adapt to his methods.
With a West Brom legend that equally yearns immediate promotion alongside him, Ismael’s job should be made easier, and we are eagerly looking forward to the opening clash of the season against Bournemouth.
