Sky Sports’ Nigel Pearson raves about Alex Mowatt amid West Brom links
Sky Sports commentator Nigel Pearson wants West Brom to snap up Alex Mowatt after watching him in action last season.
The midfielder’s deal with Barnsley expired yesterday, and Express and Star report that he is on the verge reuniting with manager Valerien Ismael at West Brom.
Pearson saw Mowatt bag a spectacular goal last season at his former club, and has taken to his personal Twitter account to rave about him.
A good signing on the cards
The midfielder was one of Barnsley’s best players under Ismael last term, and we cannot believe that we are about to sign such a player for free.
The former Leeds United man ended the campaign with eight goals and seven assists, and such creativity in the final third would come in very handy at the Hawthorns.
West Brom are currently thin in midfield as a result of losing loan players after relegation, and while the new manager has been promised transfer funds, reuniting with one of his former charges is huge.
Mowatt reckons joining us gives him another shot at Premier League promotion after Barnsley reached the play-offs semi-finals last term, and we agree with him.
Given his verve and outstanding work rate, the 26-year-old could soon be establishing himself as a fan favourite in no time, and we are eagerly looking forward to an imminent announcement.
West Brom have pipped the likes of Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough to his signature [Yorkshire Post], and hopefully, more quality players will arrive in the coming weeks.
