West Brom have signed the next Chris Brunt in Alex Mowatt
Alex Mowatt has reunited with Valerien Ismael at West Brom – and the next Chris Brunt may have just arrived at the Hawthorns.
The 26-year-old midfielder joined the Albion on a three-year deal today (July 2), becoming their first summer signing after leaving Barnsley at the end of his contract.
Mowatt played a huge role as Ismael led the Tykes to the Championship play-offs last term, and the Frenchman is delighted to have him again [official website].
The former Barnsley skipper bears some striking similarities with West Brom legend Brunt, and we reckon he would end up becoming a fan favourite if he hits the ground running and help us seal an instant return to the Premier League.
Mowatt possesses a wand of a left foot and is known for scoring some spectacular goals just like Brunt did for us.
While Brunt played mainly as a winger during the 13 seasons he spent with us, he was equally adept in playing in the middle of the park, featuring there during the last few years of his career.
The Baggies legend joined us from South Yorkshire side Sheffield Wednesday, and Mowatt has arrived from that part of the country.
In his heydays, Brunt was a set-piece specialist, and we have gotten one in the former Barnsley star too.
He has been often compared to the Albion hero, and we believe he is actually the next Chris Brunt.
Could he become our captain someday?
