Aston Villa set to sign West Brom talent Tim Iroegbunam

West Brom youngster Tim Iroegbunam has rejected a lucrative contract at The Hawthorns, according to Joseph Masi.

To make things worst, the Express and Star journalist has shared that the midfielder is set to join Aston Villa instead.

Iroegbunam has been tipped for a big future with the Baggies, but he appears ready to jump ship before giving it a chance.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Masi shared the major update that will leave Albion fans devastated.

“Youngster Tim Iroegbunam, though, has rejected a lucrative offer to stay.”

“I understand he’s heading to Villa.”

Money talks.

Villa look set to take yet another one of our academy talents, following the likes of Louie Barry, who of course went to Barcelona first.

Iroegbunam shared posts on social media this summer hinting that he was ready for a big year at The Hawthorns, but that appeared to have been all talk.

Valerien Ismael has been integrating younger options into first-team training since his arrival, but that doesn’t look to have been enough.

Midfield is an area that where options are limited, and Iroegbunam could have had a real chance to jump ahead of the likes of Romaine Sawyers and Jake Livermore.

This is yet another failure from our academy, and we can’t believe we have to sit and watch yet another one of our brightest talents leave for literally nothing.

Villa will be laughing, but it appears as though the Premier League and money have seen them twist the head of Iroegbunam – we can’t say we’re shocked.
