West Brom Super Fans react to report Albion have tabled bid for Mbaye Diagne

West Brom fans have reacted to a recent report that the West Midlands club have tabled a bid for 2020/21 loanee Mbaye Diagne.

According to Turkish news outlet Ajansspor, writing on their official Twitter account, West Brom have made a "net offer" of £4.3million for the 29-year-old striker.

However, Diagne's current club Galatasaray are expected to demand £6million, as per Ajansspor's report.

Diagne joined Albion on loan from Galatasaray on 29 January 2021, making his debut a day later against Fulham, providing an assist for Matheus Pereira.

Two weeks later, he scored his first Albion goal in a 1-1 draw versus Manchester United at The Hawthorns.

However, he ended the campaign with just three goals in 16 appearances as Albion were relegated back to the Championship after a one-season stay in the Premier League.

Despite his struggles in front of goal, some of our West Brom News Super Fans have backed a potential Hawthorns return for Diagne, though some have expressed concerns over his goalscoring record.

Here's what they had to say...

Diagne was a player who split opinions during his loan spell.

On the one hand, his goalscoring tally was pretty abysmal - a goal every five games is not good enough for a lone frontman.

He missed a number of guilt-edged opportunities that could have given us a sniff of survival.

However, it should be noted that all three of his goals came against elite-level opposition, as his double against Chelsea at Stamford Bride added to his strike versus Manchester United.

He's proven to be lethal in the Turkish top-flight, so can he translate that into the English second-tier?

Diagne is a handful to defenders, and new Baggies boss Valerien Ismael may value his qualities as a physical presence.
