West Ham make enquiry for Matheus Pereira - reports

Premier League side West Ham have enquired about the availability of West Brom ace Matheus Pereira this summer, according to ExWHUEmployee.

The attacker has been on the cusp of an exit this summer and after Valerien Ismael stated that he’s expecting him to leave [Birmingham Mail], there have been numerous reports linking him with a move away from the Hawthorns.

West Ham, who are keen on signing an attacking midfielder, given the low possibilities Jesse Lingard, have now identified Pereira as an alternative.

The source of this story is a West Ham insider who’s formerly worked at the club and has plenty of contacts in and around the London Stadium.

He has his own Patreon podcast called The West Ham Way which is popular among Hammers fans and he has amassed over 100,000 followers on Twitter due to his reliability and authenticity.

Express Sport journalist Ryan Taylor has also stated that talks have been held between the player’s representatives and the London club.

End of the road?

We knew that once relegation was confirmed, the futures of our star players would be under the spotlight.

Pereira, who played a pivotal role in keeping us in contention of survival for the longest time, undoubtedly would be a transfer target for clubs in the top flight and that’s just what has happened this summer.

With Ismael himself not showing too much positivity about retaining his services, it’s unlikely that anyone at the club could convince him to stay beyond this summer.

The Brazilian, who scored 11 goals in the Premier League last season, earned the praise of rival fans, pundits and journalists.

One person who’s been waxing his lyrical before he moved to England was Birmingham Live journalist and a reliable source for all things West Brom Joe Chapman.

He’s undoubtedly lived up to the billing at the Hawthorns and while we’re hurting to see him go he’s undoubtedly a player of Premier League calibre and has earned his move.
