Quevin Castro vows to become one of the best players in the world after West Brom move
West Brom midfielder Quevin Castro has already progressed more quickly in training than the club expected, according to The Athletic.
The 19-year-old Portuguese penned a professional deal with the Baggies earlier this month following a successful trial, and is already impressing in the first-team.
Castro told Suffolk News shortly after signing: “For me, this is a stepping stone, really as my aim is to be one of the best players in the world. And I know I will be.”
Right attitude
This is what we expect from every Albion player – that cockiness – and Castro is surely one to watch out for.
The teenager has the talents, potential and hunger to back it up, and we cannot wait to see how he does next season.
West Brom initially snapped the midfielder up with the intention of adding him to the under-23s squad, but they have been sufficiently impressed that he has started the new campaign with the first-team squad, playing 20 minutes in Saturday’s goalless friendly against Watford.
Ipswich Town were unable to offer him a professional deal, while Arsenal and Chelsea opted against signing him after his trials with them, and we reckon they may have missed out on a trick.
Castro has a long way to go to establish himself as a top player in the Championship and become one of the best in the world, but he clearly has the right attitude and much-needed motivation to fuel his drive.
We believe head coach Valerien Ismael can get him closer to his dreams, and it is safe to say we have got an exciting player on our hands.
In other West Brom news, Ismael shows faith in unpopular Tony Pulis idea, could boost the Baggies promotion bid.
