Kevin Phillips predicts Leicester to match West Brom valuation of Matheus Pereira
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Phillips claims Leicester City have the wealth to be able to match West Brom’s valuation of Matheus Pereira.
Pereira, 25, has been the subject of strong speculation this summer after an impressive season in the Premier League last season despite the Albion’s relegation.
Sky Sports Italy journalist Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this week on his Here We Go Twitch account that Leicester are considering a swoop to sign Pereira before the transfer window closes.

The Baggies reportedly want around £30million for Pereira [Express & Star] and according to Phillips, Leicester should be able to match that.
Speaking to West Brom News, the ex-striker said: “I would say from a players’ point of view, if you’ve got the chance to play for Leicester under Brendan Rodgers with the style of play they play, Pereira slips into that mould.
“It would be very appealing. Leicester are very wealthy and fees are generally not an issue for them and what West Brom are looking for, they can afford.
“I don’t think I’ve even thought about Leicester when we’ve spoken about Pereira over the previous weeks but when I think about it now, it seems like a pretty good fit for the club and the player.”

Pereira has not featured for West Brom in any of their pre-season fixtures this season with The Athletic reporting that the attacking midfielder has been effectively frozen out by Valerien Ismael.
Albion are yet to spend any money on transfer fees since relegation too, suggesting that Pereira needs to be sold in order for Ismael to adequately improve his squad ahead of a Championship campaign that kicks off next week.
In other West Brom news, Albion are trying to sign an available player who impressed Darren Moore.
