Fabrizio Romano delivers West Brom update on Al Hilal pursuit of Matheus Pereira

Fabrizio Romano claims there is nothing advanced with Al Hilal and Matheus Pereira after the West Brom attacker spoke out on Monday.

The Italian transfer guru says it would take a “crazy” offer to tempt the West Midlands club into changing their minds amid the Saudi Arabian side’s pursuit of the Brazilian.

The 25-year-old issued a lengthy statement on Monday [02/08/21], hitting out at claims that he is not committed to Albion while reaffirming his desire to leave this summer.

Speaking live via his Twitch account on Monday evening, Romano said: “From what I’m told at the moment it’s not advanced yet with Al Hilal.

“It depends, if they make a crazy bid by an economical point of view, maybe the situation could change.

“So keep an eye on the situation, but as of now, it’s not yet close to being completed.”

Crazy?

When Romano refers to a “crazy” bid, he surely means an “acceptable” offer.

Nothing below £40million could be considered ‘crazy’ for Pereira after he directly contributed to 17 Premier League goals last season.

That was despite the South American star playing in a below-par Albion side that struggled to create chances and score goals throughout the 2020/21 campaign.

It’s no wonder that he wants to exit The Hawthorns this summer, but Al Hilal wouldn’t exactly be the most challenging move to make, and a player of his talent should be playing in the Premier League.

As such, he should be commanding a Premier League offer.

West Brom are not demanding anything astronomical, just what he is worth.

If prospective bidders cannot accept Albion’s valuation, they should move on and stop wasting everyone’s time.

In other West Brom news, Matheus Pereira has hit out at ‘Extremely wrong’ recent reports in a furious open letter on Monday.
