Joseph Masi: Al Hilal tabled bid of around £6.8m for West Brom player Matheus Pereira
Al Hilal tabled a bid of around £6.8million for West Brom attacker Matheus Pereira this summer, according to the Express and Star‘s Joseph Masi.
There have been plenty of reports surrounding the Saudi Arabian side’s pursuit of the 25-year-old since Albion’s relegation from the Premier League in May, with Masi himself appearing to pour cold water on July suggestions that a £6million bid been made.
However, writing for the Express and Star website after the Brazilian issued a lengthy statement over his future via his personal Twitter profile on Monday, Masi has detailed what was actually offered to Albion by Al Hilal.

He wrote: “The Express & Star understands the Saudi Professional League side have tabled an offer for Pereira this summer.
“But that offer was in the region of €8million [£6.8million], way below his valuation.”

Derisory
Masi has not made clear when the bid was actually tabled to Albion – Pereira claims he received a “life-changing” offer three weeks ago, so it may have been in mid-July – but regardless of its timing, £6.8million is a shocking amount for a player of Pereira’s quality.
Al Hilal may be prepared to give the Brazilian a massive amount of money in wages, but agreeing terms with a player doesn’t ensure a transfer – they have to actually put an acceptable offer on the table for Albion to accept, and £6.8million is so far off what the club will be demanding.
West Brom have every right to refuse to do business with them after that insulting bid, so Pereira can have no qualms about not securing a move there if the Express and Star’s information is correct.
Transfers have to be work on at least three levels – for the player, the buying club and the selling club – and just having two of those doesn’t facilitate a move.
Pereira can keep on dreaming if Al Hilal refuse to significantly increase their offer.
