Matheus Pereira wants to move to a top league ahead of Al Hilal

Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal want West Brom attacker Matheus Pereira, but they are not a serious option for the Brazilian, according to Ryan Taylor.

The Daily Express journalist claims a move to the Middle East outfit will only be considered once the Baggies become desperate to offload, underlining that their bids have been way below what the Hawthorns side are looking for.

Taylor posted on his personal Twitter account this afternoon: “Al Hilal have never been a serious option for Matheus Pereira unless West Brom become desperate to offload.

“The money they’ve been proposing is borderline insulting and he wants to stay in a top league (ideally Premier League).”

Sky Sports journalist and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed those reports on Twitter.

Another suitor ruled out?

West Brom value the Brazilian at around £30million, and there is no way Al Hilal are spending up to that on a player.

They simply do not have the financial capacity to pull it off.

Pereira has to remain in Europe’s biggest leagues to realise his dream of playing for Portugal or Brazil, and he has already proven that he can cut it in the Premier League.

The Baggies ace ended 2020-21 with 11 goals and six assists in 33 top-flight games, and we believe his suitors in England could be missing out on a trick.

While he is worth £30million due to the three years left on his deal and his enormous potential, West Brom may have to beat down their asking price, and £20million to £25million could be a realistic fee most top-flight clubs would gladly jump at.

Head coach Valerien Ismael has already excluded Pereira from his plans heading into the new Championship season after insisting he is no longer committed to the club, and things could get ugly if both West Brom and player find a solution as soon as possible.

Al Hilal are effectively out of the race at the current price, and Premier League clubs cannot afford to miss out on such a talented and versatile attacker.
