Matheus Pereira excluded from the majority of West Brom training sessions
West Brom head coach Valerien Ismael has excluded Matheus Pereira from the majority of the main sessions, according to The Athletic journalist Steve Madeley.
The Frenchman has concluded that the attacking midfielder is not ready to buy into the process of developing his intense and pressing style of play at The Hawthorns.
The 25-year-old still takes part in some sessions but spends much of his time training alone, with his prospects of a recall currently looking remote.
Too bad
Pereira is not doing himself any favours by refusing to stay professional and work hard in training.
We understand he wants to leave, and rightly so, but the Baggies are firmly in control of the situation with three years still left on his contract.
West Brom are keen to sell him for around £25million, but no buyer has been able to meet their demands.
Despite his social media statement on Monday, we do not see the club flinching and changing their minds, and the player remaining at The Hawthorns beyond the end of the summer transfer window cannot be completely ruled out.
Should that happen, then Pereira risks spending a large chunk of the campaign on the bench and in the stands.
Ismael is not impressed with his behaviour, and we have to admit it has been disappointing too.
He is not guaranteed an exit with West Brom ready to play hardball, and his only hope would be if a club meets the asking price.
Things could be about to get messy, and the attacker would be solely to blame should it come to that in the end.
With a World Cup approaching, the Brazilian is not doing his chances of playing at the tournament any favours with his current stance.
