Middle East journo claims Matheus Pereira move from West Brom to Al Hilal is sorted
Middle Eastern journalist Wael Jabir claims Matheus Pereira’s move from West Brom to Al Hilal is now a “done deal”.
Pereira, 25, declared his intentions to leave The Hawthorns this summer in a Twitter post on Sunday, where he also said he received a life-changing offer from a club.
Al Hilal has been strongly linked with a move for the Brazilian and Jabir, who writes for Arab News and The Asian Game, reports the Saudi Arabian outfit has reached an agreement to sign the playmaker from the Baggies.
Is it a done deal, really?
We’ve seen a lot of bluster from the Al Hilal fans on Twitter since Pereira started to get linked with the Saudi Arabian club.
You couldn’t read through the comments on Pereira’s statement on Twitter without being greeted by images of his face photoshopped onto an Al Hilal player with continued cries of ‘we’re the biggest club in Asia’.
Honestly, who cares about the biggest club in Asia? How is that even something to brag about? If there was a football club on the continent of Antarctica, it would have the right to brag that it’s the biggest team on that continent – it means nothing.

If you’re happy to go and play for a team like Al Hilal there’s only one thing you care about – and that’s money.
Pereira even said it in his statement. If you read between the lines, he basically he said he wants to leave West Brom to earn more money.
Did he say he wanted to play in Europe? Or that he wants to continue testing himself in the Premier League?
Did he say anything about competing for major silverware or trying to further his chances of getting a call-up to the Brazil national team?
No. His motivation is money.
We cannot offer as much money as Al Hilal will offer so if the number one thing for Pereira is money, there you have it, it’s effectively over.
We don’t want to be bitter about losing Pereira but we all thought he’d return to the Premier League or at least join a team in a top European league.
This is a bit of a kick in the teeth. We’ve lost out to money and greed rather than ambition and pure love for the game.
