Luke Hatfield believes that West Brom ace Matt Phillips will be a big part of the club’s plans
Luke Hatfield has revealed on his Twitter account that he thinks Matt Phillips will be a big player for West Brom this season after he signed a new deal.
The Baggies confirmed on Thursday afternoon that Phillips had signed a new three-year deal and the Express & Star journalist revealed that Valerien Ismael “likes Phillips’ versatility” and that “he’s a big part” of the club’s plans this season.
Phillips has been with West Brom for five years and has made 172 appearances for the club, and it appears as if he is set to add to that total this season.
Good deal for the Baggies?
Phillips can play on either wing, and in 201 Championship appearances throughout his career; he has scored 34 goals and provided 28 assists, so he can clearly perform in this division.
Therefore, it is no real surprise to see that he has signed a new contract, and hopefully, he can lead the Baggies back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
The former Blackpool winger has been an important player for West Brom for many years, and it looks as if he could once again be a key player for the Baggies.

We will be intrigued to see how Phillips performs this season for West Brom, but this new deal clearly indicates that the club have a lot of faith in the winger.
It is now up to him to prove that he deserved that new deal and help lead the Baggies back to the big time.
