Matheus Pereira to undergo Al Hilal medical today ahead of West Brom exit

Matheus Pereira will undergo a medical with Al Hilal today (Thursday) as he edges closer to leaving West Brom, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing via his personal Twitter account in the early hours of Thursday morning, the Sky Sports Italy journalist reported that Pereira, 25, will have his medical in Paris before flying to Saudi Arabia to sign for the reigning Saudi Pro League champions.

It is understood that an agreement between West Brom and Al Hilal is close with the Albion “stick checking final details” before it’s done.

What a waste of talent

In his two years in England, Pereira has torn up the Championship and impressed in the Premier League for a team that has been ill-equipped and poorly managed at all levels.

Slaven Bilic and Sam Allardyce both had the Brazilian shining and he made himself the talk of English football with some of his performances.

We won’t ever forget Pereira’s brace at Molineux when we won 3-2 and neither will we forget him getting two goals and two assists in our 5-2 demolition of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

He’s scored some absolute beauties and bamboozled defenders with his technique and skill.

Pereira did all this in two of the toughest leagues in the world and that led to him being linked with teams who are playing in European competition next season.

Now, he’s joining Al Hilal to play with Bafetimbi Gomis against a bunch of players and teams no one has really heard of.

Why is he going there? It’s pretty obvious it’s for the money – even though we doubt that he would have been offered minimum wage by top Premier League clubs who were keen on him.

What a waste of talent.
